distance learning or online wine courses at wine campus
What is e-learning
(Distance Education) and its advantages?
E-learning courses are modern-age
correspondence classes; only more engaging
and participatory. It's an educational system that uses
personal computers to
transmit printed text as well as audio and video
files. With our set-up those learners
disadvantaged by limited time, distance,
opportunity or physical disability too can
learn about wine!
Is an e-learning courses
for you and how does it work?
If you are more comfortable with
someone in authority directing your learning
experience, then you'll be disappointed. If
you like the idea of working at your own
pace, rather than that of the teacher or
classmates, then yes.
When do the courses begin and end?
One of the advantages of our courses is that we are
specialists and can be flexible and
accommodating. The learning curve is smooth
and you can start today!
What if I fall
behind in my studies?
Nearly all courses are scheduled by
'topic'. We do not impose a weekly format although a new
lecture is delivered nearly every 7 days. Courses are
self-paced so you can catch up.
Where can you study from?
Provided you have easy access to a computer and the
internet it is truly possible to study any of our courses
from anywhere in the world. Courses are delivered in
their entirety via the Internet guaranteeing a participatory
experience.
What if I wish to
contact my tutor for more explanations?
Simply use the messaging / chat
facility, send an email or
agree to Skype. Tutors set aside a specific
block of time for students to interact via
audio-conferencing and chat sessions.
What do I need?
Apart from a set of wine glasses, all
you need to take up a course is a PC with an
internet connection, a word processor and
free software to open PDFs, audio and video
files. This usually comes standard but can
also downloaded for free at the click of a
button here:
Adobe Reader;
Quicktime
or
Mediaplayer
and perhaps
Skype.
What if I cannot
find the wines I need to taste for the
course?
Since we reach out to students in
remote and less catered for places too, your tutor will advise
you as what wines to taste instead.
Is there an age limit for students?
No. We support the WIM.eu programme
and welcome students of legal drinking age or above the age
of 18 who have had a general education up to at least GCSE
standard (UK), or equivalent standard. If there's a subject you've
always wanted to study, now is the time to do it.
E-LEARNING
E-learning
technologies work. Perhaps one might find it
curious how wine can be taught over the net
- "without tasting it together", you ponder?
Well, if one can learn how to play the
violin via e-teaching, one can surely master
the subject of wine - after all, tasting
comes natural to us and all we need is
guidance. Watch this video to see how it
works!
