This e-learning course, in which you receive one lecture per week, provides an introduction to all the fundamental basics of wine, how climate and location can affect your wine’s taste and quality, what the grape farmer has to do, various aspects of winemaking and investigates the sensory evaluations that are frequently overlooked when drinking wine.
In wine tasting techniques you will learn how to taste wine and you will study the different components of a wine’s appearance, aroma and flavour, and also how to taste & analyse wines, sparkling wines and liqueur wines.

This module offers a basic understanding of the major grapes used for making wine and their discerning characteristics. You will also get a detailed introduction to fortified and sparkling wines.

The course consists of 20 detailed and professionally prepared lectures on topics such as, for example, The Mechanics of Smell, What Is an Odour, Towards A New Classification Of Smell & Taste, The Aroma & Taste Profile Chart,  Introduction to Wine making, Major Red and White Grape Varieties, Climate & Wine Quality, How Grapes Grow, Making White, Rose and Red Wine, Sparkling Wine, Secrets of Fortified Wine, Sauternes & Sweet Wines, Oak & Flavour, Corks & Cork Taint, Decanting, Cellaring Wine, Reading Wine Labels, Glossary of Wine Tasting Terms and more.


This course can easily be rated as being of a higher academic level and standard than most other wine courses of an intermediate  level as offered by other colleges.
