Wine Campus offers face to face and distance learning wine courses of high standard as guaranteed by the college's strong tutorial system in place.
Specialist tuition across a wide range of wine related subjects is available to a very high level. Needless to say, that every student will find it a pleasure and a privilege to be surrounded by such an outstanding academic corps. Prof. Bruce W. Zoecklein is Professor, Head of the Wine/Oenology Department, and an internationally renowned oenology specialist at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, working in a research, extension and teaching capacity.
He previously worked in the California wine industry, and taught oenology at California State University-Fresno, as well as at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. Dr Zoecklein is also the regional coordinator for AVERN (American Viticulture and Oenology Research Network).
Wine Campus is indebted to him for his

David Bird MW became a Master of Wine and a Chartered Chemist in 1981. David Bird has been involved with wine activities and education in France, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Denmark, Finland, Norway, the
Netherlands, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Algeria, Australia, Ireland and England and he furthermore specializes in quality assurance techniques and hazard analysis.
The Wine and Spirits Education Trust and Master of Wine Examination’s preferred wine-science primer 'Understanding Wine Technology: The Science of Wine Explained', is written by David Bird.

Marian
W. Baldy Ph.D
Much of her knowledge
about wine was developed and tested by her
experience as a winemaker and co-owner of
Butte Creek Vineyards between 1972 and 1978.
Dr.
Baldy has taught the Introduction to Wines
course at CSU, Chico. She wrote The
University Wine Course in 1993 and has since
received numerous awards, including the U.S.
Department of Agriculture’s National Award
for Excellence in College and University
Teaching in 1994. She received an Honorary
Life Membership in the American Wine Society
in 1997 but continues to teach.
Guiseppe Vaccarini was
born in Miradolo Terme, a small village in
the province of Pavia, Italy in 1952.
Giuseppe earned his credentials of 'Best
Sommelier of the World' in 1978. He is a
teacher of “sommellerie” at the Istituto
Alberghiero Carlo Porta and the University
Bocconi e della Cattolica of Milan. Giuseppe
is also an accomplished author of numerous
publications and magazines. During his
career he has served as a technical
committee member and Jury President for
different national and international
competitions, among which those for the
title of Best Sommelier of the World in
Venice (1986), Paris (1989), Rio De Janeiro
(1992), Tokyo (1995), Vienna (1998),
Montrčal (2000), Athens (2004), Rhodes
(2007), and Trophee Ruinart for Best
Sommelier of Europe 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998,
2000, 2002, 2004, 2007. In September
of 2007, Giuseppe launched the official
Italian sommelier association named ASPI –
Associazione della sommellerie professionale
italiana, which is a member of the ASI world
sommelier association and will represent the
professional sommeliers of Italy at the
world sommelier competitions. His
contribution to Wine Campus is in the field
of water, wine and food harmonisation.

Brian Fletcher is a champion Australian oenologist, the sole director of Oenological Systems of Margaret River, Australia, who lectures at the Curtin University. He was educated in Australia and studied oenology at Charles Sturt University and began his industry career in 1978 in Australia. Previously Mr. Fletcher was Production Director for Casa Vinicola Calatrasi in Sicily and he has held positions with Evans & Tate as Chief Winemaker and B. Seppelt & Sons as Group White
Winemaker for Southcorp, Australia.
He has established himself as a winemaker with a track record in awards and achievement in international wine making competitions.
With over twenty years of experience at all
levels of winemaking application, Mr
Fletcher brings an experienced and
commercial perspective, from both the New
World and Old World wine regions, to the
courses he will be advising on.
Troy
Kalleske
is a sixth generation Barossan whose
family has been growing grapes since 1853.
In 1999 Troy graduated with a Bachelor of
Agricultural Science (Oenology) Degree from
the University of Adelaide, achieving a
distinction average. During his studies Troy
was awarded no less than three scholarships,
including the prestigious South Australian
Wine and Brandy Industry Association Medal
for Bachelor of Agricultural Science
(Oenology). Following university, Troy was
part of the winemaking team at Penfolds,
Veritas, Seppelts, Miranda, Lindemans, and
Kendall-Jackson. Today he is the winemaker
for Pirathon, but also for his family's
estate range of 'Kalleske' wines. Since
releasing his own wines, Troy has rapidly
gained national and international
recognition as one of the Barossa's and
Australia's best young winemakers.

Rod
Phillips is a historian,
writer and journalist who lives in Ottawa,
Canada’s capital, where he writes a weekly
wine column for the city’s main daily
newspaper, the Ottawa Citizen. While mainly
engaged as a professor of history at
Carleton University (teaching courses in the
history of Europe and the history of food
and drink), Rod writes books on wine,
contributes to wine magazines and other
media in Canada, the United States and
Europe, and
judges in wine competitions. His current
activities include his column and
newsletters, wine judging, wine travel, and
writing. He is completing a global history
of alcohol. He also meets and tastes with many
visiting winemakers and others in the wine
industry. At Wine Campus he has contributed
to the resources relating to the modern
history of wine. |
